Pre-application advice may be either formal or informal, although initially, it can be difficult to know which to choose. Our consultants are always happy to switch from one to the other in order to meet your needs.
Following a formal pre-app meeting, you will receive a written report that includes a tree survey and an annotated tree plan indicating the primary constraints associated with existing trees.
An informal pre-app meeting is not supported by any written material.
The Pre-application Site Meeting
At this meeting our consultants meet with the interested parties to discuss the constraints and considerations associated with the trees on and immediately adjacent to the site. It is often prudent to invite the local planning authority’s tree officer to attend.
The meeting provides an opportunity to identify the development potential or otherwise of the site at an early stage in the design and planning process, and thereby prevent problems arising at a later stage.
‘Existing trees are an important factor on construction sites, whether on or near the working areas, and trees are a material consideration in the UK planning system’
